Yes, you register at the actionpact website www.actionpact.co.nz, for a single or multiuser smokestop licence.

Smokestop can be used by yourself or with the assistance of your doctor or health professional. It is recommended that you see your doctor to discuss the programme and arrange your smoking cessation medication.

5. Can I use smokestop again if I start smoking again?
Yes you can use each single user licence up to 3 times for the same subscription.

Actionpact software provides motivation for change but understands how lifestyle changes can be challenging and that things do not always go as smoothly as one would like. If you have a slip up and start smoking again you are recommended to complete “relapse action” before you restart the programme and learn from the experience, so that you can be successful on the next attempt. The most important consideration is to have self respect and to realise that you are not a failure.

6. smokestop information for doctors
smokestop is a patient centred smoking cessation programme that uses the motivational interviewing technique.

It addresses the psychological basis of the smoker’s state and moves them through to adopting a nonsmoker’s way of thinking and responding to day to day life events.

You can confidently recommend the smokestop programme to patients who wish to stop smoking, as it has been designed by leading smoking cessation specialists.

Patients are advised by smokestop to see their doctor to discuss their desire to quit and to arrange appropriate medication, such as nicotine replacement therapy, bupropion or nortriptylline.

It can be run by the patient themselves, or if you prefer you can offer it yourself, or with your practice nurse or counsellor.

Patients can use the programme from any computer with an internet connection, such as your surgery, or their home or work. You can prepurchase a single or multiple (at reduced rate) smokestop user licence for use by your patients, or you can refer your patient directly to the actionpact website to purchase their own single user licence.
