Comments From Smokers

I have now been smoke free for 2 whole weeks! 14 days!!!!! I've never done that before. If fact I can only recall once - maybe twice, that I have gone a full day without having a smoke. I've been smoking pretty well every day for around 52 years. I'm feeling much better - improved breathing, not so tired at the end of the day, and saving a fair few dollars too, I guess. So- all credit to yourself and the smoke stop programme for your help & encouragement.

I am now 4 WEEKS AND 2 DAYS without smoking, thanks to YOU! thank you thank you.. my infant son thanks you as well.. Anyway, thanks again, this is the longest I've lasted in 10 years - and probably 20 or 30 attempts to quit. Thank you...

I wanted to congratulate you on your excellent programme you have provided for smokers. My husband and I were very long time smokers (approximately 56 years between us). We have tried everything from hypnotherapy, acupuncture, homeopathy, cold turkey, books, tapes, cd's plus some other weird and wacky attempts. Some of these worked for a short time, most did not, but all in all this combined with our heavy smoking habit has cost many $$$$$$, not to mention what it has done to our health over the years. We are pleased to report that after 8 days on your programme we are both smokefree, have not been moody, tearful or even worse have not resorted to hiding behind the shed for a sneaky one. We have both been in company with smokers and have not felt the urge to steal one from them, while trying not to preach and sound holier than thou, we are certainly encouraging friends that smoke to look at the website. Most friends are amazed that we have got this far.

The online sessions are a great help as are the daily motivation emails.

Signing up for the programme was easy. ...our GP is thrilled we have taken this step (after years and years of telling us the dangers of smoking). So many thanks to everyone that has put this fantastic programme together, I believe it will be a great success for many people. I am looking forward to sending you an email in one years time to announce we have been smokefree for 365 days.

I am pleased to say that I am still smoke free after nearly 2 months, thanks for your support (from a smoker with 10 previous quit attempts).

I feel that the modules completed before quitting helped greatly. They gave me advice and tools to deal with the cravings. For some reason, I feel that I'm going to be smoke free. Hopefully, this is it but if I relapse again I'm going to continue quitting until I'm a non-smoker. I'm certain it's the information I received from smokestop that's made me feel confident.

Remember, if you don't have that smoke "just for today" then before you know it all those "todays" will become weeks, months and years.

There are tons of other benefits of being a non smoker but your LIFE is the greatest of all and like they say LOOK AFTER IT AND IT WILL LOOK AFTER YOU!

I have spent the last 20 years as a heavy smoker and i am very proud to say that I have been smoke free for the last 5 weeks and it is definitely WORTH every minute of it. The benefits are phenomenal and believe me when i say it is definitely a mind over matter thing!

It certainly does get better with time and I can honestly say i will never look back or go back to the way things were and thats one of the keys to being smoke free is what you tell yourself you will believe it.... and what you believe you will become.

This is my 4th attempt at quitting however in saying that I believe there is a lot more involved in trying to quit than just saying it. Preparation and planning is definitely the key to success along with a strong, determined and absolutely positive mindset. So for me this is my 2nd and only attempt as I don't plan on smoking anymore.

Instead focusing on alternative healthier lifestyle methods such as exercise, diet, hobbies, etc focuses your attention away from smoking. Making those changes habitual until it becomes 2nd nature smoking will no longer be an issue.

I like the email support and the text, I think it helps to feel supported, and having those daily, helps to feel that you aren't totally alone.

I look forward to reading my txt each morning, it gives me strength and resolve to start and continue my day without a cigarette.

I like the txt support messages, every morning I wait eagerly for the text message knowing the message will be posted around 0700-0800. I need this support, it re focuses me and helps me be courageous in not being tempted to smoke.

You always have your phone with you so it is easy to re-read the messages whenever you feel vulnerable! I have put them in an archive folder for easy access!

I like the sms text support, it makes me feel like someone is there supporting me, even though I know it's an automated messge ... the messages have a caring quality to them.

Amazing service, 4 patients used this and really helped them.

Great programme. Very good feedback from patients enrolled so far.

I like the idea of someone being able to go away and work at the smokestop site at their own pace. Appealing to offer young people, especially. I like the programme and hope it does well.

smokestop supported me in providing brief advice and action plans to several patients who smoked.

I think smokestop is a really good idea and it did help in providing brief advice to patients.

smokestop support has been brilliant.

The smokestop programme is another useful arm which certainly seems to appeal to some people.

The smokestop programme was supportive of my advice to patients to stop smoking.
